Craig Gordon arrived at Sunderland from Hearts as the most expensive British goalkeeper in history, but a succession of injuries has, so far, left the Scotland international's career unfulfilled.

Aged only 30, Gordon could have to call time on his career at the end of the season owing to chronic knee problems, although the Black Cats stopper is sounding out specialists across the globe to try and put an end to his troubles.

Gordon's issues have made it hard for him to consistently showcase his qualities, but he was able to prove his worth in a clash with Bolton almost three years ago with a save that was named the best in the first 20 years of the Premier League.
