Tottenham Hotspur are ‘keeping tabs’ on Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero, according to reports.

The People claims Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has sent scouts to watch the 28-year-old on at least four occasions this season, with the Portuguese chief impressed by the player’s spells at Mallorca and Villarreal in recent seasons.

His form with the Viola has also been good following a move to the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the summer, and Borja Valero has been a regular for manager Vincenzo Montella’s side in Serie ‘A’ this season.

A product of the Real Madrid youth system, the midfielder failed to make a senior appearance with Los Blancos before joining Mallorca for a first spell in 2007.

After one season with the club, Borja Valero joined West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League, but couldn’t stop the Baggies getting relegated. He subsequently returned to the Iberostar Stadium for a season on loan, and then to Villarreal on another short-term deal the following year.

The Yellow Submarine signed the player permanently in the summer of 2011, and after impressing in La Liga, he earned his move to Italy.

Now, the report claims Tottenham Hotspur want to make it another switch for the one-cap Spanish international, as AVB gets his summer transfer plans in order.

Spurs are yet to formalise their interest in the player, according to the paper, but Borja Valero is on the White Hart Lane radar.
