The 42-year-old was recently linked with the Etihad Stadium hot-seat, and whilst admitting he was flattered to be mentioned in the same breath as the reigning Premier League champions, remained fully focused on finishing the campaign at the Amsterdam Arena.
With Ajax top of the Eredivisie - three points clear of PSV Eindhoven - speculation surrounding the long-term future of De Boer is understandably unwanted.
Overmars is confident that the Dutch legend will remain in his homeland for the foreseeable future, though, and intimated that De Boer's representative might be the source of rumours linking him with Manchester City.
"I'm not afraid at all. Maybe if they [Manchester City] come for De Boer in two years," he told De Telegraaf. "Everyone is aware of the situation, but I think his agent is just hyping the matter."
And, after confirming that the club has already opened negotiations to extend the contracts of assistant manager Dennis Bergkamp and academy coach Wim Jonk, Overmars expects talks with De Boer to follow.
"We are now working on extending the contracts of Wim Jonk and Dennis Bergkamp," he explained. "We want to finish that first before we sit down and talk with De Boer."
Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini looks to be facing an uncertain future as a number of different names continue to be linked with the Manchester City job, following the Italian's anticipated failure to retain the domestic title, and group stage elimination from the Champions League.
