Xavi insists that Barcelona have enough cover to deal with the injury losses sustained against Paris Saint-Germain.
The midfielder, whose cool penalty gave Barcelona a 2-1 lead before they were pegged back by PSG, has insured fans that the team has plenty of strength in depth to replace Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano.
Both men picked up injuries in last night's 2-2 draw in the Champions league quarter-final first leg match at the Parc des Princes, but Xavi is confident the team can cope with the losses.
He told reporters: "The injuries our team suffered are a bad outcome to the game but we have players good enough to cover those losses."
The injuries will come as a blow to the Catalans, with Messi set to undergo a series of tests to determine the extent of the knock he sustained to his hamstring. Mascherano, meanwhile, will be out of action for an estimated six weeks due to the knee problem he picked up late in the second half.
However, the instrumental Xavi also voiced his satisfaction with Barca’s first leg draw with PSG, and is confident of making it to the semi-finals of the competition.
He added: "It is a real pity that last goal went in as we felt we controlled the game and had it won. We would have taken this result at the beginning though so all is not lost.
"We will look to produce a game like we did in the round of 16 second leg against AC Milan and hopefully we can get through.
"Barcelona always look to attack, have possession of the ball and to be the protagonists and that is how we will approach the return."
The second leg takes place at the Nou Camp on Wednesday, 10th April.
