The odd outburst is not unusual in football, what with it being a game so highly dosed on emotion and adrenaline. Managers will always feel the need to berate players that have failed to carry out their duties on certain occasions.
Most football bosses will know when enough is enough and will subside before overstepping the line. Delio Rossi, however, failed to see the line and not only crossed it, but wiped his feet on it on the way over.
The Italian was sacked as Fiorentina boss in 2012 after Adem Ljajic applauded him sarcastically following a substitution – Rossi’s response was to attack the young Serbian as he went to take his seat on the substitute bench.
During his next job in charge of Sampdoria, Rossi got involved in an on-field spat with AS Roma star Nicolas Burdisso during a game.
