Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has declared he believes David Alaba is one of the best left-backs in the world.
The Austria international has impressed a number of people this season including head coach Jupp Heynckes as well as the Bayern chief.
The attacking full-back has been producing some fine displays in recent months, leading to the plaudits from former Germany international Sammer.
The youngster originally started out as a central midfielder, but has turned his hand to playing at left-back and has taken to it like a duck to water.
Alaba has already featured 24 times for the Austrian national side and is still only at the tender age 20 with a bright future ahead of him within the game.
"David is a very, very important player for the club," Sammer told the Bayern Munich official website.
"Even at a very young age, he's already one of the best left backs in the world."
Head coach Heynckes voiced the same opinion as the Bayern chief agreeing the player has been in wonderful form, but feels he can still improve and become even better than he is now.
"David's playing at a very high level at the moment, but he still has room to improve further."
