Loan deals are now a crucial part of transfer market and some people find displeasure in how they have wormed their way into all corners of the game.
If you are one of those people who loathe loans, you might want to turn away now because GiveMeFootball have decided to put together a full XI of players that have been sent away temporarily.
As far as GMF can see, loans are used mostly for big clubs to hedge their bets on players or to get certain players off the wage bill.
Loans are inevitably young stars that show promise sent out to prove themselves with a bit of first team football – the lower leagues are full to the brim with loan players – or unwanted flops that clubs can’t flog.
Both categories combine to run up a lengthy list of players that are living out of their suitcases, ready to up sticks at the drop of a hat of their parent clubs reel them back home to solve an injury crisis.
This XI is made up of players loaned out by Premier League clubs; this can be to football league clubs, other Premier League sides and pretty much any team that isn’t the one that bought them.
Now, GMF aren’t saying that this XI is going to be really good but we reckon they could hold their own and possibly avoid relegation.
So without further ado, we bring you GMF’s Loan Rangers FC!
GK – Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea to Atletico Madrid
Atletico have done pretty well out of Chelsea’s purchase of the young Belgium international from Racing Genk, having had him in goal while winning their second successive Europa League title last season.
LB – Fabio, Manchester United to QPR
You feel a bit for Fabio as he has had to watch his twin brother Rafael go from strength to strength back at their parent club. We’ll have Fabio in our team though – it was him of Andre Santos.
CB – Anton Ferdinand, QPR to Bursaspor
Rio’s brother hasn’t been in the best of form over the past few seasons but he does have decent Premier League experience.
CB – Johan Djourou, Arsenal to Hannover 96
What happened to Djourou? He had two spells of playing so well when injuries meant he was thrust into the Gunners first team. A horrific spell at right back last season seemed to crush his confidence – we at GMF still believe in him though.
RB – Alan Hutton, Aston Villa to Real Mallorca
Scotland could do with the Alan Hutton of a few seasons ago, when the exciting and aggressive full-back convinced Tottenham to pay Rangers (Glasgow that it, not GMF’s Loan Rangers) somewhere in the region of £5million for his signature.
CM – Michael Essien (capt.), Chelsea to Real Madrid
Bit of a glamour signing for the GMF Loan Rangers this; Essien may have injury troubles but he is still a top quality midfielder and will be bossing it for us. His vast experience will also mean he gets the armband.
CM – Emmanuel Frimpong, Arsenal to Fulham
We have opted for a steely Ghanaian connection in the middle of the park and it doesn’t get more muscle-bound than Essien and Frimpong. If anything the young Gunners midfielder can provide some entertainment in the dressing room with his antics.
RM – Wilfried Zaha, Manchester United to Crystal Palace
Calm down please, we know Zaha hasn’t played for the Old Trafford club just yet but he is technically on loan. The young England international will give the Loan Rangers a bit of unpredictability out wide.
LM – Andros Townsend, Tottenham Hotspur to QPR
Spurs’ young star gives the team another tricky winger that is prepared to take on defenders – old fashioned wingers, in TV analysis cliché parlance. This ok because we have two central midfielders that are more accustomed to sitting deep.
CF – Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea to West Brom
Another young Belgian sent out for a bit of fun by the Blues, Lukaku has been absolutely brilliant. The 19-year-old has scored 13 times in the Premier League, bringing the Loan Rangers that rare combination of power and pace.
CF – Andy Carroll, Liverpool to West Ham
Carroll’s two goals for the Hammers in the win over West Brom last weekend had the look of a man that is regaining his confidence; a thundering header and a technically fantastic cushioned volley. Carroll on form is more than a handful and Lukaku’s versatility could make them a useful partnership.
What do you think of the GMF Loan Rangers FC? Which other on-loan stars would you have picked instead?
