Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are set to fight it out over the new young sensation in African football dubbed the ‘Nigerian Cristiano Ronaldo’.

According to the Daily Star, both Anfield manager Brendan Rodgers and his counterpart at White Hart Lane, Andre Villas-Boas, have been tracking Moses Daddy-Ajala.

The report claims the 17-year-old winger has been watched closely as he makes progress in a famed youth academy in Jos, Nigeria.

Liverpool and Tottenham scouts have obviously been impressed with what they have seen from Daddy-Ajala and the report claims he is being compared to Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in his homeland.

He is yet to play for the Super Eagles and is currently still contracted to the GBS Academy but reports in Nigeria have suggested he is on his way to the UK.

One problem for both the Reds and Spurs is the lack of international football and his age, but the Star claim Daddy-Ajala is expected to qualify under the special talent rule.

He is tipped to follow in the footsteps of Victor Moses at Chelsea and become the next Nigerian winger to make it big in the Premier League.

Liverpool have already shown they are ready to give young players a chance with the blooding of 17-year-old Raheem Sterling earlier in the season before fatigue set in.
