Arsene Wenger confident of bringing Stevan Jovetic to Arsenal

Arsene Wenger is confident of landing number one transfer target Stevan Jovetic this summer but only if Arsenal can qualify for the Champions League.

According to the Mirror, the Gunners manager feels he is in poll position land Fiorentina’s Montenegro star and has been watching him weekly.

The report claims the Arsenal board have urged Wenger to spend much of the £70million available to him to improve his squad this summer.

It has been a difficult season for the Emirates Stadium outfit and a place in the top four is far from guaranteed, though they are only two points off Chelsea in fourth.

It also claims Wenger plans to bring in a new goalkeeper and midfielder, as well as forward Jovetic, though a new right-back may also be in order.

This is because current first choice Bacary Sagna looks likely to leave in the summer as no agreement can be made over a new deal for him.

The report claims Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Feyenoord’s 23-year-old Holland international Daryl Janmaat as a possible replacement for the Frenchman.

Sagna’s international teammate Etienne Capoue is mooted as a possible candidate for the midfield purchase.

Wenger reportedly made a last minute bid for him in the January transfer window but could not broker an agreement with his club Toulouse.
