Everton boss David Moyes has emerged as the leading candidate to take over at Schalke during the summer, while the 49-year-old Scot continues to be linked with the soon to be vacated Chelsea position.
Moyes is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to provide a clear indication that he will remain at Goodison Park beyond the terms of his current deal, leading to speculation that he could join Chelsea.
It was reported last weekend that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich had finalised a managerial shortlist of two names to replace Rafael Benitez at Stamford Bridge, one of which is Moyes, while the other is Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea, meanwhile, may be contested in their apparent pursuit of Moyes, after the Daily Mail claimed Schalke have identified him as their top target with Jens Keller only employed on a short-term basis at the Veltins-Arena.
Moyes had initially been installed behind Armin Veh in the running to join Schalke, but the Eintracht Frankfurt coach committed his future to his current employers by signing a new contract just last week.
Should Moyes end his 11 year association with Everton come the end of his contract, then the Toffees will reportedly sound out Neil Lennon from Celtic.
