Arsenal fans are set to get a glimpse of the future this week as wonderkid Gedion Zelalem prepares to make his under-21s debut on Monday evening against Liverpool.

The German youth international only turned 16 in January, but he's now received international clearance to make his club debut for the under-21s.

Zelalem's poise, technique and passing ability have led to comparisons with Cesc Fabregas, who broke through into the Arsenal first-team at a similar age.

Like Fabregas, Zelalem joined the Gunners at a young age - he was spotted playing in America.

And the teenage midfielder, who is also eligible for Ethiopia, has been tipped by Arsenal coaching staff to have a big future at the Emirates Stadium.

His former coach Matt Pilkington told the Daily Mirror in an interview last year: "The balance, the vision, the ideas - you don't see that often at [Zelalem's] age. We will see Gedion in Arsenal's first team three years from now.

"He's got a great future."

Zelalem joined the Gunners from Olney Soccer club in January 2013 after North America scout Danny Karbassiyoon was left impressed by his performances, and invited him to London Colney for a 10-day trial.
