Bayern Munich proved their class in the first leg at the Allianz Arena as they cruised to a 2-0 victory over Juventus.

The Italian giants were competitive and had their chances but were never really troubled the Bavarian giants as they limped to defeat and face a uphill task of overturning this two goal deficit.

With the return leg in Italy, both sides will be hoping to make it through to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

It was always going to be a difficult task to face one of Europe's most inform team. The Old Lady will once again be disappointed in themselves mostly, with their inability to sign a quality frontman who could turn a game with a moment of magic.

Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella offered no threat whatsoever upfront and it was the same story for Mirko Vucinic and Sebastian Giovinco when they were summoned in the second half.

Andrea Pirlo was hunted and pressed at every opportunity by Bayern's indefatigable midfielders which ultimately contributed to Pirlo's below par performance.

Arturo Vidal and Stephan Lichtsteiner will miss the return leg which will be a massive blow-potentially match defining given they were the Bianconeri's best players in Germany. It's hard to see Juventus coming back to reach the semi finals.

The newly crowned German champions will be rueing the missed chances at home as they could have easily put the tie to bed in the first leg.

Toni Kroos' season ending injury was the bitter point in an otherwise flawless performance from FC Hollywood.

Given the depth that is at Jupp Heyncke's disposal this season, there is plenty of cover for the young German starlet as Bayern continue their pursuit of treble glory.

With suspensions to key players for Juventus and the two goals that Bayern are ahead by, it will take a miracle from Juve or a calamity from Bayern to see Juventus progress.
