Manchester United: Top three summer transfer targets
Manchester United opinion: Gareth Bale, Leighton Baines & Daniele De Rossi would be a good fit at the Red Devils
The 2012/13 season has been a relatively successful one for Manchester United with the Red Devils currently 15 points clear in the Premier League.
Whilst many fans will be satisfied with us having the title back in the Old Trafford trophy cabinet, many others have bemoaned the lack of quality required to get the Red Devils to the latter stages of the Champions League and cup competitions.
If you take a look at the squad, there are signs that the future is bright with players like David De Gea, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck all being vital to the title challenge this year.
However, there is clearly room for some other quality players to come in and improve the squad next season in the hope that we are in the latter stages of the Champions League.
Daniele De Rossi
The Roma midfielder is one of the best defensive midfielders in the game today. Whilst it would, undoubtedly, be difficult if the two sides could come to an agreement De Rossi would be a great addition to the team.
He'd bring some much needed grit and tackling prowess to a team that already has the technical abilities of Cleverley, Carrick and Rooney to rely on.
He could be a great signing for United, and just what they need to take them to the next level in Europe.
Many people have talked about Bale in the same way they talk about Messi and Ronaldo, and whilst there is no doubt that Bale has the ability to win matches by himself (he's done it countless times for Spurs this season).
The comparison between him and the two best players of world football are probably off the mark at the moment.
However United's wingers have misfired all season with Young, Valencia and Nani having seasons to forget despite the odd brilliant performance - like the one Young had against Manchester City at the Etihad.
If, as expected, two or more of the three leave in the summer, then Bale would be a great fit and would link up brilliantly with Rooney and Van Persie.
With Wilfried Zaha to arrive in the summer, that would be two extremely quick and tricky wingers to deal with.
Patrice Evra has had a very good season and as well as finding his form again after a shaky season last, he has added goal scoring to his repertoire as well.
However, Evra will be 32 in May and hasn't got many years left in him. Baines has undoubtedly had his best ever season for the Toffies and has been the best left back in the country (something that Ashley Cole kept pipping him most years).
As Sir Alex Ferguson looks to find replacements for his ageing players, Baines would fit the bill. Hard working, defensive knowledge and a brilliant set piece taker he would be a great addition to the team in the Summer.
In fact, many United fans may think of Baines as the new Dennis Irwin who popped up with the odd goal and was a mainstay in the United team for many years.
