Wayne Rooney is Manchester United “emblem” and won’t leave Old Trafford for Paris Saint-Germain, according to his club mate.
The England striker has been linked with a switch away from Manchester United in the summer and the big-spending Ligue 1 side have been tipped as a possible candidate to sign him.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson denied Rooney would be on his way out of Old Trafford and these sentiments have been echoed.
Red Devils striker Federico Macheda was speaking to Tuttomercatoweb when he insisted Rooney was too important at Manchester United to join the likes of David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the French capital.
“No, I do not think so,” he said when asked if he could see Rooney making the switch.
"He is an emblem of Manchester United and I think there is no better team in the world than that in which he is playing right now.”
Speculation around Rooney’s future has been sparked by a season that has seen him struggle for form and having to play second fiddle.
Manchester United’s big summer signing Robin van Persie has been in outstanding form since his switch from Arsenal and is Ferguson’s top scorer with 19 goals in the Premier League.
Macheda is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Stuttgart and his long term future at Manchester United looks bleak after failing to build on a sensational start to his career there.
