Wigan Athletic seem to find themselves on the brink of relegation every year and somehow manage to find a way to survive.

This year is no different - Roberto Martinez's side are again flirting with relegation, but after a good run of form, can they beat the drop once more?

Here is a look at Wigan's fixtures and their chances of surviving:

Manchester City (A)

West Ham (A)

Tottenham (H)

West Brom (A)

Swansea (H)

Arsenal (A)

Aston Villa (H)

Why they will survive?

Wigan Athletic have made a habit of coming out of these situations. The familiarity of the situation and the belief of Roberto Martinez men that they have been their and done it will hold them in good stead.

Their current form is also impressive which has given the indication that Wigan will do the business like the past many years. They also have a game in hand over the other relegation candidates which might be the key in the battle for survival. Their late goal against QPR to earn a point last weekend could also prove key in their battle to beat the drop.

Why they will go down?

They are involved in the FA cup which might be a distraction they don’t need at the moment. Having planned great escapes before could also mean that the players might get complacent and take things for granted.

Verdict

They will survive, but only by the skin of their teeth.
