Ex-Manchester United star's son attracting Ajax interest

Published 1 Comments

Edwin van der Sar's 15-year-old son Joe has been attracting interest from Ajax as current club VV Noordwijk have been in discussions with the Dutch side, according to their head of technical education Timo Gerlof.

Timo Gerlof told West Broadcasting: "We have not made contact with his parents, but Ajax have asked us to participate in this transition.

"Joe has a number of times trained at Ajax, and he has impressed many."

The young goalkeeper was previously part of the Manchester United academy, amid his father's tenure at the club. He notably represented the U13 team - against Ajax - during a prelude to Van der Sar senior's testimonial fixture in 2011.

The young goalkeeper will look to follow in the footsteps of his father, who spent six years playing at Old Trafford and won 11 major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and Barclays Premier League, before retiring in 2011.

However, the Dutchman began his professional career with Ajax, having also trained in Noordwijk as a junior, so his son seems to be making all the right moves at this early stage of his career.
