Arsenal are reportedly leading the chase to sign Stoke City's highly-rated goalkeeper Asmir Begovic - but will need to pay £15m to get him, according to the Telegraph.

It's believed Gunners boss Arsene Wenger inquired about the Bosnia & Herzegovina international's availability in January, but nothing came of it.

Now, however, it seems that there has been further contact from Arsenal for the £15m-rated shot-stopper.

Although no offer has been made, the keeper is tipped to join the Gunners in the summer as the other two interested clubs, Manchester United and Chelsea, already have world-class goalkeepers at their disposal, and Begovic is unlikely to join a club where he’ll be forced to play second fiddle.

David de Gea has found some form over the course of the latter part of the season and, should Begovic make the move to United to replace the allegedly departing Anders Lindegaard, he’ll spend most of his time warming the bench.

Chelsea already have Petr Cech, who has proved his worth again this season with a few sensational performances, as well another world class stopper in Thibaut Courtois, who is on loan at Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal on the other hand will be looking for someone to replace the out-of-favour Wojciech Szczesny. The Pole has been watching from the sidelines since the derby day defeat against Tottenham, while understudy Lukasz Fabianski has been impressing in his place.

Fabianski has conceded only two goals in four games and kept clean sheets at the Allianz Arena against the feared Bayern Munich side and again three days later against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in identical 2-0 victories.

However, Arsenal will be looking for a top keeper for next season and, at 25, Begovic is nearing his prime goalkeeping years and has shown at Stoke this season why he comes with a lofty price tag.

Stoke will be hesitant to let go of the stopper, though, as his contract only expires in 2016 and they will be adamant that Arsenal dig deep to meet their valuation.
