Tottenham under-21 coach Chris Ramsey has spoken of his admiration for defender Younes Kaboul after he played 60 minutes for the club’s reserve side, as he bids to regain full fitness.

Kaboul returned to action in Monday’s 1-1 draw against West Ham’s second string at Upton Park, after almost eight months on the sidelines.

The Frenchman had been out since aggravating a knee injury during his side’s opening match of the season against Newcastle, but finally made his return after some difficulties with his rehabilitation.

And when speaking about Kaboul’s performance, Ramsey hailed the defender’s professionalism.

He told Sky Sports: "He did well, had no problems really. He wanted to play an extra 15 minutes as well, showed a fantastic attitude and wanted to push his fitness a little more.”

The Tottenham coach also had praise for Tom Carroll, who has been part of Andre Villas-Boas' first team plans throughout the season, before stating his delight with the game in general.

He said: “Tom Carroll showed a great attitude as well, as he always does. All the senior professionals have set an example when they've come into the squad.

"Overall, when you look at the fact that a player like Younes returns to action after eight months out and the experience the younger lads gain playing alongside him, it's another great exercise for us."

Spurs will now be hoping that the Frenchman can successfully continue with his recovery and may look to include him in the first team for the game against Manchester City on April 21.
