Barcelona and Holland legend Johan Cruyff has urged the Catalan club to keep hold of Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean winger has been linked with moves to the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

However, Cruyff wants to see Sanchez stay at Camp Nou and believes those saying he is not good enough for Barcelona are misguided.

“Alexis Sanchez is widely criticised. It is said that he is not at the level to play at Barca,” he said in his regular column for Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf this week.

“But I saw him play against Mallorca and saw a quality player who gives the team something that others do not have.

“For the first goal he was technically perfect. Moreover, two assists and two goals in the victory was decisive.

“Of course Sanchez is not Messi, but the club should be happy to have a player of this quality in the squad.”

Sanchez has failed to hold down a regular place since he joined Barça from Udinese, which led to reports linking him with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United at different times.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has seen his attack perform stutteringly this season, so the pace and skill of Sanchez would be a welcome addition the forward line.

However, Manchester United wingers Ashley Young, Nani and Antonio Valencia have all been inconsistent this season and Sir Alex Ferguson may see wide areas as in need of improvement.

Meanwhile, Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas may have to plan for life without Gareth Bale as the Welshman is continually linked with a move away.

The White Hart Lane club have a lack of options out wide when Bale and Aaron Lennon are absent, which has recently been seen in their stuttering league form.

Liverpool will be desperate to add some real quality to their squad this summer as another season goes by finishing outside of the top four in the Premier League.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted he is looking for a small number of recruits in the summer and signing Sanchez would be a positive purchase.
