With the title heading to Manchester once again, Chelsea will go a third season without the Premier League crown.

However, here are five crucial reasons why next season may be their year:

1. They are likely to spend big in the summer

It seems a long time since Chelsea's huge spending ways after being eclipsed by Manchester City in recent years. However rumours suggest Roman Abramovich is ready to splash out in pursuit of the league title.

They have been linked to big name players in recent weeks such as Radamel Falcao, Marouane Fellaini and Isco. If they sign just a few players they have been linked to it's possible Abramovich will spend up to £100 million.

2. The 'Special One' may return

Jose Mourinho the self proclaimed "Special One" was at the helm for Chelsea's most successful period in the league. Between 2005 and 2007 he won two Premier League titles as well as domestic cups.

He has supposedly made clear his desire to rejoin his former club, but there are other clubs interested in him. With Mourinho back at Chelsea it could give the club and players stability and a platform to mould a great squad and challenge for trophies.

3. The three amigos

The three amigos signed up for the start of the season have made fantastic starts in their Chelsea careers. Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar are all technically gifted attacking players who provide creativity and goals for Chelsea.

All three are in their early twenties and have plenty of time to progress into some of the worlds best. It could be argued that Juan Mata and Eden Hazard are already up and amongst the best footballers in the league. They are not likely to move to other clubs and should continue to provide excellent attacking threat, goals and assists that could be vital in Chelsea's league campaign.

4. Young talent

While Chelsea's youth and reserve academy isn't as mentioned as others such as Arsenal or Southampton they actually possess a wealth of youthful talent. They send many of their players out on loan to get valuable experience which could turn them into great players.

Some of Chelsea's young talents include Lucas Piazon, Nathaniel Chalobah, Thorgan Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne. Utilising these players and letting them have first team opportunities could be the difference for Chelsea.

5. A recent history of winning trophies

While Chelsea's recent league finishes may leave little to be desired, their success in other tournaments has been impressive.

They won the FA Cup last season as well as the Champions League beating world club football giants such as Barcelona and Bayern Munich on their way to the prestigious crown. This suggests Chelsea have the capability to win and challenge for the title it is consistency and stability that they need to find.
