Barton: QPR return not an option

Joey Barton reportedly told QPR he will not play for them again and says he will remain at the French club.

Barton left QPR after the last game last season when Manchester City beat the Loftus Road club to snatch the title from Manchester United.

True to nature, the midfielder was controversially sent off during the game for an elbow to Carlos Tevez’s throat.

Enraged by the red card, Barton then proceeded to knee Sergio Aguero in the back and had a shove-off with Vincent Kompany. He received a further 12 match ban for the incident after joining Marseilles on loan.

He confirmed he is content for that to be his last action for Rangers.

“It’s not up to QPR if I stay. There is an agreement already in place for me to stay here,” Barton was quoted as saying in The Mirror.

“I’m loving life in France. Loving Marseille. They love me.

“All I want to do is give everything for this football club. They backed me when nobody else did. For that, I will be eternally grateful.

“This club is now in my blood. It’s impossible to get it out.

“QPR was over for me way before the Man City incident. I really hope they stay up. I have all season.

“Stay up, go down. Harry stays, goes. I don’t want to be a part of it. Marseille is my home now.

“I played a part in keeping them up last year. This year I was banished.

"From the first day of pre-season training I was treated like a leper - some will say deservedly so.”

Barton also tweeted: "Some strange people think that I'll be playing in the Championship next season?? Good one! QPR might, I won't! #Fact.”
