Arsenal and Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Robert Lewandowski as reports in Spain claim Borussia Dortmund are lining up Alvaro Negredo as a replacement for the Polish striker.
Lewandowski has been linked with United since January, while Arsenal have recently emerged as a potential summer destination.
And a move could be edging closer as reports in Spanish newspaper Marca suggest Borussia Dortmund have identified Sevilla frontman Alvaro Negredo to replace him.
Jurgen Klopp's side are thought to have placed a £18m valuation on Lewandowski, who currently leads the Bundesliga scoring chart with 21 goals from 28 games.
His contract expires at the end of next season, and the report claims speculation is mounting that he won't be with the German club next season.
The report also says Arsenal will spend big in the summer, with Arsene Wenger expected to strengthen his squad heavily through the transfer window.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and his assistant Mike Phelan have both scouted Lewandowski personally this term, and reports claim United are in the market for a striker this summer.
A €55m move for Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao has recently been reported, suggesting United are considering their options as they look to recruit a world class centre-forward before the start of next season.
