Tiger Woods has announced that he is currently dating Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn.

It is the first time since unceremoniously leaving ex-wife Elin Nordegren back in 2009 that the 14 time major winner has announced he is dating someone else.

Announcing the news on his official Facebook page, Woods explained how pleased he has been to combine a recent return to form with a progression in his relationship with Vonn.

He said: "Something nice that's happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating.

"This season has been great so far and I'm happy with my wins."

After the shocking revelations back in 2009, Woods had to wait over two years for his next career victory and is yet to win a major.

However, it may appear that Tiger is close to his former brilliance after claiming the Cadillac Championship by two strokes just over a week ago.

Meanwhile, Winter Olympic gold medallist Vonn has also talked of her joyfulness after the announcement was made.

She said on her official Facebook page: "I guess it wasn't a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods.

"Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy."
