Everton star Marouane Fellaini hails inspirational Phil Neville
Everton news: Marouane Fellaini thanks fellow midfielder Phil Neville for inspiring work ethic
Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has sung the praises of his fellow midfielder, and club captain, Phil Neville for his inspiring work ethic.
The Belgium international stated how the 36-year-old veteran has amazed him with his professionalism and also said that he has learned a lot from the former Manchester United man.
Neville, who is current Everton skipper, has been with the Merseysiders for eight years and has made over 300 appearances for the club.
However he announced this week that he would be leaving the club this summer but is not retiring, but has plans to continue playing at the top level with Aston Villa rumoured to be interested in his services.
And Fellaini is someone who does believe that Neville is more than capable of this, adding that he felt he was the best example of a player being able to play at the highest level well into their 30s.
According to the Liverpool Echo he said: “Phil has been here for eight years and has done a great job, his work-rate is incredible. At the moment he has an injury but he never stops working to get back quickly.
“He’s a big example as a professional. I’ve learned from him. He’s 36 and he works really hard. I’m 25 but I look at him and am amazed.
“I’d love to be playing when I’m 36 too and with hard work you can stay at the top level into your 30s. He’s the best example of that.”
