Spain were able to achieve what few tournament favourites are able to do as Vicente Del Bosque's team claimed victory just as they were expected to do before the World Cup began.

La Roja had dominated European football in the lead up to the competition in South Africa and, although unable to devastate the field in 2010, clinically dispatched of every team placed in front of them.

Spain failed to concede a single goal in the knockout stages, and boasted a squad with some of the game's modern day greats, including Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Ramos.
