Chelsea set for £20m Andre Schurrle bid after Wembley visit

Chelsea are set to make a £20m bid for Bayer Leverkusen star Andre Schurrle after representatives of the player attended the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, according to the Daily Mirror.

The German international is set to be Chelsea's first transfer target this summer, and Roman Abramovich is prepared to sanction a big-money move to bring the Bundesliga star to the Premier League.

Schurrle's camp attended Chelsea's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City at the weekend, and the report claims the two parties are set to discuss personal terms this week.

The 22-year-old forward can operate across the front line, and would add versatility to an already fluid Chelsea attack.

The Blues attempted to buy Schurrle last summer but were put off by Leverkusen's asking price.

The Germany forward has been extensively scouted by the Stamford Bridge club, and according to the report, he's now available for transfer.

The former-Mainz player has 22 caps and seven goals for his country, and was included in Joachim Loew's Euro 2012 squad.

Chelsea lost a hugely entertaining FA Cup semi-final 2-1 against City. Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri put Roberto Mancini's side into a 2-0 lead before Demba Ba halved the deficit.

The Blues pushed hard for an equaliser to force extra time, but City clung on to book a place in the final against Wigan next month.
