Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho's position as the most promising young manager in European football was confirmed when the Portuguese got the better of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2004, as Porto knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League on their way to claim the competition.

Ferguson had already had his feathers ruffled in the first leg at the Estadio do Dragoe after he suggested play acting from Vitor Baia had resulted in a red card for United captain Roy Keane.

Perhaps buoyed by the barbs of his opposite number, Mourinho went berserk when Francisco Costinha's late leveller at Old Trafford sent Porto through to the last eight, as he streaked down the touchline, trench coat flapping round his ankles, to celebrate with his players.
