Eden Hazard claims Chelsea were frightened of Manchester City during the first-half of their thrilling FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley on Sunday, and says the Blues failed to do enough to beat their opponents.

Manchester City dominated the opening 45 minutes against Chelsea - entering into the half-time interval with a one-goal lead courtesy of Samir Nasri, and in complete control of the last four encounter.

Sergio Aguero doubled the advantage for Roberto Mancini's side just seconds after the break with a well taken header, and Manchester City appeared as though they would cruise into a second FA Cup final in three seasons.

Chelsea, however, so very nearly staged a dramatic comeback as they grabbed a goal back through Demba Ba and went close through Juan Mata and David Luiz.

The Blues also had claims for a penalty waved away after Vincent Kompany clashed with Fernando Torres, and Hazard believes Chelsea may have been able to progress had they played without fear of their opponents in the first period.

"We were frightened of City in the first half," Hazard told The Sun.

"We showed them too much respect, and paid the price. Maybe we might have deserved a different fate, but we started the game badly.

"We played the final 40 minutes, but that is not enough to beat City.

"We had chances, and we believed we could do something, but their keeper made some good saves."
