A major story over the past few days is the rumour that Radamel Falcao may be on his way to Manchester United in the summer.

The Atletico Madrid striker has netted 24 times so far in La Liga, and was named in the FIFA team of the year in 2012. The Red Devils are reportedly ready to offer 27 million pounds and Javier Hernandez.

Falcao is a quality player, but is he the player United need at the moment?

Scoring goals has not been the issue for  United this season, but it has been the lack of a physical midfielder. I believe a player such as Marouane Fellaini or Mousa Dembélé would be perfect for United next season.

If I were to be greedy I would also love new quality centre-back, as Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are getting older and our others are inexperienced but should be included in the team’s future plans. A defender such as Mats Hummels would be great for the team.

As for Falcao, I don’t think he is needed in our squad, but he has a great career ahead of him and will definitely be signed by a top side this summer. United have Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, two world class strikers at the moment, as well as more quality in the likes of Danny Welbeck and Hernandez.

I do not think United should splash the cash on Falcao, but if the Red Devils are to compete for the Champions League trophy next season then some change is needed at Old Trafford.

I believe the club should instead spend on a strong midfielder and perhaps a new centre-back.
