Bayer Leverkusen will consider offers for Chelsea striker target

Bayer Leverkusen general manager Rudi Voller has confirmed the Bundesliga club will consider approaches for Chelsea target Andre Schurrle this summer, reports Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, and it's believed the Blues have held a long-term interest in his signature.

However, reports that Chelsea are ready to activate the Germany international's €35million release clause appear to be wide of the mark, with Stamford Bridge owner Roman Abramovich allegedly offering £12million plus Kevin de Bruyne to secure Schurrle's services.

Either way, Leverkusen will review any offer that is on the table, before making a decision on how to proceed with this long-running transfer saga.

"We are receiving transfer enquiries every now and then," Voller told Deutsche Presseagentur. "Andre Schurrle is not the only player of interest.

"It is obvious to have a look at those proposals. We also did that last summer."

Wolfgang Holzhauser, club executive at the BayArena, was quick to play down speculation surrounding the future of Bayer Leverkusen's prize asset, refusing to be drawn on any rumours linking Schurrle with a summer switch to Chelsea.

"At this point in time, there is so much said," he told Reviersport newspaper. "There are many rumours. I would prefer not to be part of all this."
