Manchester City are reportedly readying a bid to prise Lazio midfielder Hernanes away from the Stadio Olimpico, and to the Etihad Stadium, during the summer transfer window.

According to talkSPORT, Manchester City are prepared to make an initial offer of £15.5 million for the Brazil international as Roberto Mancini bids to reinforce his midfield before the start of next season.

Lazio, however, value Hernanes at closer to £20 million, so Manchester City may be required to increase their planned bid if they hope to capture the signature of the 27-year-old, although a swap deal may be an option.

Manchester City are reported to be considering offering young striker John Guidetti as part of the proposal to sign Hernanes, and hope this may persuade Lazio to allow the former Sao Paulo man to leave this summer.

Guidetti has only recently returned to action following a serious injury, but impressed during a loan spell with Feyenoord last season during which time the 21-year-old found the net 20 times in 23 appearances.

Hernanes, meanwhile, has scored 12 goals in all competitions for Lazio this term, and his arrival at Manchester City could spell the end for Samir Nasri, who has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain.
