There is a long list of players whose careers have gone down the drain after a reckless move to a certain club.

For example, Kaka was bought for a staggering £56m and is used sporadically by Real Madrid.

Here is a list of the worst transfers since 2008:

1. Fernando Torres | Liverpool to Chelsea - £50m

Before people start mentioning the fact that he's currently playing quite well, let's review his time with Chelsea. Yes, he has been in quite good form this year, but £50m - was he really worth that much? Fernando Torres makes this list.

2. Kaka | AC Milan to Real Madrid - £56m

As I mentioned earlier, Kaka is barely used in the line up for the Spanish giants. With Mezut Ozil in that position, you can't really blame Jose Mourinho, but Kaka hasn't yet become what he used to be. However, you still se sparks of brilliance when he plays.

3. Hulk | Porto to Zenit St. Petersburg - £39.5m

The Brazilian star was touted to be simply amazing, with many big clubs lining up offers. Sadly for his career, he chose to go to Zenit, and has been in poor form since. Suddenly, all the interest died down and it looks like he isn't going to be what he was.

4. Roque Santa Cruz | Blackburn Rovers to Manchester City - £18m

This was an ill-fated transfer for Roque Santa Cruz, who was fantastic at Blackburn. He went to Manchester City on a high after a successful spell at Ewood Park, but the big-spenders barely played him. That was the downfall of the Paraguayan international.

5. Stewart Downing | Aston Villa to Liverpool - £20m

Stewart Downing's career took a turn for the worse from the moment he signed that contract with Liverpool - and the jokes on him are numerous. Overall, he has failed to live up to his £20m price tag.

6. Andy Carroll | Newcastle United to Liverpool - £35m

The striker is currently on loan at West Ham after failing to impress at Anfield. The former Newcastle man had a great season at St. James Park, but he ruined his career with that move to Liverpool.

7. Dimitar Berbatov | Tottenham to Manchester United - £30m

Initially, Dimitar Berbatov was quite a regular scorer and featured a lot for Manchester United, but he soon dropped down the pecking order and was hardly used. With many striking talents in front of him, he left Manchester United, smartly, and went to Fulham. Now, he's showing them just how good he is.

8. Robinho | Real Madrid to Manchester City - £32.5m

The former Real Madrid man was set to destroy defences with his record-breaking price tag, but he scored a meagre amount in his spell. Soon, he was shipped off to AC Milan and that was goodbye to the man who never played like a £32.5m player.

9. Robbie Keane | Tottenham to Liverpool - £20.3m

Robbie Keane's move to his boyhood club proved to be a disaster. He was having the time of his life at Tottenham and then Liverpool swooped in with an enormous amount of money for the striker. However, he endured a tough time at Anfield.

10. Emmanuel Adebayor | Arsenal to Manchester City - £25m

After an OK'ish first season, he was dropped as new attacking talent arrived at the Etihad Stadium. His fee was forgotten, he was barely played. But his move to Tottenham hasn't been particularly good either.

Honourable mentions: Wayne Bridge, Jordan Henderson, Andrey Arshavin, David Bentley. Alberto Aquilani, Roman Pavlyuchenko
