A persistent and resolute performance by Everton against top four rivals Arsenal meant that David Moyes' side left the Emirates with a truly well earned point.
An Arsenal side, playing with a new found confidence after four league wins in succession, were left frustrated by a resolute performance from the typically solid visitors.
Everton boss David Moyes cited before the game that his side had only a 15% chance of a top four finish, with his side only reaching these heights on one previous occasion over the course of the Premier League era.
But this result leaves the Toffees four points adrift of third place Arsenal, and directed a message to their rivals that they are truly involved in this absorbing scrap for Champions League football until the very end.
Without a win away from home in over 11 years against the "big four" sides, leaves the odds truly stacked against the Merseyside outfit, and as trips to Chelsea and the old rival Liverpool draw closer, Everton’s Champions League aspirations seem to be gradually fading out of sight. Nonetheless, little would have predicted that Moyes' side would be in such a promising position on the table, especially with only five fixtures remaining. Although Moyes admitted that he would accept a fifth place finish and Europa League football next season, one cannot help to think that this ever fascinating scrap for Champions League football, may have one more twist in the tale.
