It was announced earlier this week that Chelsea have reportedly agreed a £20m deal to bring André Schürrle to Stamford Bridge from Bayer Leverkusen.

It's a relatively decent price tag to pay for an up-and-coming talented young star. The German international has already clocked 21 appearances for his country at the age of 22. This alone says something about the player and his abilities.

A player who can operate as a striker or as a winger, how will Schürrle fit into the Chelsea set up? The Blues already have a plethora of attacking talent at their disposal and may have to offload some players in order to be coherent with the financial fair play rules that will be kicking in soon.

With the likes of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba, Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Ramires forming an already deadly attacking threat, will Schürrle be able to fit in to the team as smoothly as he would like?

As far as economic decisions go, it makes no sense to spend that kind of money on a player and leave him on the bench too often, which begs the question: which one of these players will be seeing more time from the sidelines?

Hazard and Mata have proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that their attacking prowesses are possibly the most swift and deadly going forward. Torres has recently picked up his form and if he is able to discover the player he once was, chances are Schürrle will not be picked ahead of him. Ba has also proven his quality to score from seemingly impossible angles and, given half the chance, my money is on this man to bury the goal.

Perhaps Ramires, although a very good player for Chelsea, may find himself rotating with his new team-mate, seeing as how the aforementioned players will be almost impossible to dethrone.

Schürrle has a mean shot with his right foot that allows him to score from range. He often tries shots from outside the box. He is a good dribbler of the ball and is able to create chances for himself.

He is a very fast player, which could add well to the overall speed at Chelsea and, with the likes of Mata and Hazard, their counter-attacks will be almost impossible to catch up with. He has great stamina and work rate which makes him a consistent threat throughout the game.

Chelsea will be an even harder team to play against next season with Schürrle in the team as they look to add depth and quality to their squad, enabling them to challenge domestically and in Europe.
