Manchester United are closing in on a 13th Premier League title, as they need just six points from their remaining five matches.
Despite having a healthy lead at the top, United have come in for criticism as many have suggested this United side are not dominant force of previous ones.
However United left-back Patrice Evra has told PA Sport and talkSPORT: “In the seven years I have been here, it is always the same.
"When you lose one game it is like the end of the world. It has always been like that.
"If you don't accept this pressure, you can't play for Manchester United. But we need that also.
“In the beginning of the season, we were not playing well, but we always come back after losing 1-0. We keep winning.
"We are a marathon team. People forget that. The league is not a sprint – it is a marathon.
"People just want to see us playing well in big games against City or Liverpool, but this is not the way to win a league.
"Of course you want to win against the big teams, but it is about how many games you win.”
The Red Devils vice captain believes his side have showed character as they have come from behind on many occasions throughout the season.
He continued by saying: “Because it is Manchester United people don't give us a lot of credit.
"They just say 'Oh, okay, they escaped, they came back.
"If it is another team they say what great character they have, what a great team they are.
"But we have not escaped. This is character. This is personality. It is the reason we are in the position we are.
"I don't see anyone with more character than this team."
United's recent display of character was at West Ham, as Sir Alex Ferguson's side came from behind twice to draw with West Ham United 2-2.
Manchester United next face Aston Villa at the Theatre of Dreams and United will hope to get maximum points from a game which saw them win 3-2 in the reverse fixture.
