The Premier League has produced some quality goals in recent weeks, which all could have won the title of Goal of the Season in previous years.
Here I pick out three potential goals which I believe are in the running this season.
Matthew Lowton | Stoke City v Aston Villa
Matthew Lowton’s goal could prove vital to Aston Villa in their fight to avoid relegation. A volley is one of the more difficult skills to execute but Lowton showed great skill and precision to find the back of the net with this shot.
Lowton seems to have the appetite for quality goals so maybe this was no fluke, but you would not expect this type of goal to come from a defender. Villa may need more of this type of quality in order to avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship.

Loic Remy | QPR v Wigan
Considering QPR’s plight this season, Loic Remy has been one highlight with his undoubted quality and eye for a goal.
Despite missing games through injury, Remy still has an excellent goals-per-game ratio and is clearly a player who will be back in the Premier League even if QPR are relegated.
The goal itself was quality personified, with a fantastic build up on the break and a wonderful first time side-footed finish with pace and power that left the goalkeeper with no time to react.
This goal needed great skill and technique and was executed in a way that I have not witnessed before. Many critics will argue that, technically, this was the most difficult goal to score.

David Luiz | Fulham v Chelsea
The Chelsea central defender can certainly strike a ball, but he is more noted for his free-kicks rather than his open-play goalscoring. This strike, from around 35 yards, was like an arrow into the top corner and was virtually unstoppable during Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Fulham.
Luiz has a desire to get forward and is one of few central defenders who is able to venture forward with confidence. Yes he can be prone to the odd defensive error, but Luiz possesses some real quality in his right foot.

With very few games left this season it will take something special to be able to beat these three contenders.
My personal favourite has to be Loic Remy’s strike, but which one of these goals do you think should pick up the coveted title?
