Six of the best: Premier League freebies
Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard & Kolo Toure are all entering the final stages of their contracts
There are a number of high profile players available this summer on a free transfer, as their current clubs are yet to offer them new deals.
Here we look at the players which may be on the look for a new club this summer:
The Frank Lampard saga has been the most tedious in recent memory with fans and ex-players pressurising the club to give the player a contract.
The club however has made the decision to part with the record breaking goalscorer. Any team signing the Chelsea legend can be assured of goals from the England international.
Malouda has been a forgotten figure in the Chelsea squad with Roberto Di Mateo and Rafa Benitez both forcing the cultured midfielder to the reserve squad.
The French international brings with him a wealth of experience and will be a consistent performer on the left-side for anyone interested in getting his signature.
The Russian playmaker never reached the heights with Arsenal that were expected of him when he signed for the Gunners in 2009. His most impressive display for the Gunners came when he scored four goals in a 4-4 draw against Liverpool.
The player still captains his national team and churns out impressive performance for them. However, his time at Arsenal looks to be coming to an inevitable end.
Simpson has seen his importance to the club decrease with a number of players added in the last few transfer windows in the full back position. The defender still managed sixteen appearances for the club and will have a host of suitors for his signature.
The Ivorian made a comeback of sorts this season when he leapfrogged Joleon Lescott to marshal the city back-line in the absence of regular captain Vincent Kompany.
The club however seems intent to get the defender off their wage bill and he will be available on a free in the summer.
Ferdinand still hasn’t signed a contract but it's highly unlikely that Manchester United will let the England international leave after his impressive year in the back-line.
If the defender does decide to leave he will have a number of clubs fighting for him.
Apart from these six there are many other players that are coming to the end of their contracts, these include:
Carlton Cole, William Gallas, Winston Reid, Phil Neville and many more. Who do you think is the best free agent this summer?
