This season has seen several footballers rise to prominence. Players who you may never have heard of will now be at the forefront of transfer talk whilst last season's stars have continued to improve.

So we look to update you with the five wingers in world football that have seen their stock rise significantly. Expect these young men to be linked with moves to the elite all summer long.

5. James Rodriguez (FC Porto and Colombia) 

Age: 21 years 

The Colombian has replaced Hulk at Porto with ease, scoring many goals from the wing and also providing some sensational assists. Last season, James Rodriguez scored an incredible 13 goals in 20 starts in the league. His tally of 10 goals and three assists this season is respectable and he's being chased by many top European clubs like Manchester United. 

This season his quality of goals has improved while the quantity have reduced as he currently sits on 12 goals in all competitions with a few games remaining in the current season. 

4. Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich and Switzerland) 

Age: 21 years 

Shaqiri rose to prominence at FC Basel where he helped Basel advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League, playing an integral part in the win against Manchester United. Bayern snapped him up this season where he has flourished, scoring 9 and assisting 11 times in just 23 starts. He has begun starting big games for Bayern and has delivered, scoring recently in the German Cup Semis against Wolfsburg. 

3. Lucas Moura (PSG and Brazil) 

Age: 20 years  

Moura rose to prominence last season, scoring 16 and assisting five to complete a successful campaign with Brazilian giants Sao Paulo. With many big clubs hot on his heels at the start of this season, Moura decided to make a move to Paris in January sealing a sensational €40 million euros. The Brazilian has amassed 14 goals and 13 assists for PSG and Sao Paulo this season making him one of the hottest young prospects in world football. 

2. Eden Hazard (Chelsea and Belgium) 

Age: 22 years

The Belgian had some stellar seasons at Lille before completing a multi-million pound move to Chelsea. Hazard was sensational in the league for Lille, scoring 20 and assisting 16 in just 35 starts for the French outfit helping them clinch the Ligue 1 title. At Chelsea, he has grown as a player and his link up play with Juan Mata has been a joy to watch this season. With and incredible 16 goals and 19 assists this season, Hazard continues to grow as a player and could be competing for the Ballon D'Or soon. 

1. Gareth Bale (Tottenham and Wales)

Age: 23 years 

The Welsh star has been in the spotlight for quite some time now and could replace Ryan Giggs as the 'Welsh Wizard'. In 2010, Bale destroyed Inter Milan scoring a hat-trick at San Siro and putting in a man of the match performance in the return game at White Hart Lane. 

His performances in the Champions League gained critical acclaim as he won the PFA Player of the Year for the 2010/11 season. The season after that he continued where he left off, recording his highest goal tally of nine goals in the Premier League and currently has 17 goals and 16 assists. 

This season, Bale has stepped up his game and become even better as he is carrying Tottenham on his shoulders with his incredible match-winning goals. He has almost doubled his previous best goal tally in the PL and with 27 goals and 11 assists in all competitions; Bale is one of the best if not the best winger in the world.
