Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he has never been interested in Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov as he prepares his team to stop the Bulgarian at the weekend.

Berbatov has been in impressive form in his first season at Fulham, scoring 13 goals for the Cottagers after leaving Manchester United in the summer.

The Bulgarian striker was a big signing a few years ago for United as they signed the powerful striker from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for a fee around £30m, but after only making cameo appearances, the Bulgarian finally wanted to move on.

He was sold in the summer of 2012 for just £5m to Fulham and they have really got the best out of the big striker.

Labelled by some as a lazy forward, Berbatov is known for his lack of movement around the pitch, but his level of skill and finishing has never been doubted.

Pundits have often said that he is the only footballer who can play football walking.

Despite his impressive record, Wenger has insisted that he has never been interested in the striker, but admits he is a very talented footballer.

"No, because he went to Man United," Wenger answered, when questioned if Arsenal were ever in for Berbatov. "I didn't even know that Man United wanted to sell him.

"He went to Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen. At that time we didn't look for strikers. We had what was needed. I knew that he was a good player because I've seen him with Leverkusen but I was never on the case".
