Liverpool to build squad around Luis Suarez?
Liverpool opinion: Liverpool must do all they can to keep the Uruguayan at Anfield
This week Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre told Sports Illustrated that Luis Suarez is not for sale and stated that the Uruguayan is an essential player in their pursuit to get back in to the Champions League.
It is true that Luis Suarez is one of the two world-class players that currently inhabit the squad at Liverpool, the other being Steven Gerrard and his sale would in no way benefit the Merseyside club.
He has been a key figure for Liverpool this season with 29 goals in all competitions this season and is currently the top scorer in the Premier League.
The Uruguayan striker has been linked with a move away from Liverpool in the past but Ayre’s insistence on keeping Suarez will be great news for Liverpool fans.
Suarez will no doubt be frustrated if Liverpool do not qualify for Europe and no one can blame the player as he has done his very best given his goal tally.
It is now down to the club management to show their intent of improving the squad by investing in some quality players. So far Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge have shown promise and perhaps after offloading a few deadweight players in the squad Liverpool can look to bring in a mix of experienced and young talented players.
Looking at the current direction they are taking, youth seems like the way to go and it has paid off thus far. Losing Suarez would be a huge blow to the club and they should cling on to the man who is arguably their best player.
He has proven to be a consistent attacking threat on the front line and uncompromising when it comes to finishing. One of the few players that could waltz into any other club in the world, it is a good sign that the Liverpool management have hardened their resolve to keep him.
Hopefully Liverpool will see some major changes in the next transfer season and reshape their squad to challenge for a top four position like they once did.
