Incoming Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is set to make the £30m capture of Tottenham star Gareth Bale his top priority this summer, according to The Sun.

The Welshman is one of the hottest properties in world football, and Guardiola can expect competition from the likes of Real Madrid for his signature.

Tottenham are desperate to keep hold of the 22-goal attacker, but much hinges on their ability to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The report claims Guardiola is a huge admirer of the Wales international, and has been tracking the Spurs star for more than 12 months - he even had his eye on him while still manager of Barcelona.

Bale has improved since then, and is currently enjoying his best season in a Tottenham shirt. The 23-year-old has been shortlisted for the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards, but the report suggests only Champions League qualification will keep him at White Hart Lane this summer.

And Bayern Munich hope a £30m bid for the winger will be enough to tempt him to the Bundesliga champions, where Champions League football will definitely be on offer.
