The FIFA world rankings are often funny and curious.

In the most recent rankings - April 2013 - Croatia are fourth, Colombia are in sixth and Ecuador are ranked 10th.

However, teams like Uruguay, France and Brazil are 17th, 18th and 19th, respectively. Often subjected to criticism, the calculation for the rankings is certainly questionable.

Now, Brazil were once a force to reckon with. Most of the time, they were occupying the number one spot. But now? 19th.

They have been reduced to laughing stocks in the South American region. They have the talent, new players, new manager and the potential, but they don't utilise it. But, if the Brazilian national team works hard and focuses, they can retain their title as a feared team.

Neymar, Fred, Alexandre Pato, Thiago Silva, Marcelo - the list of stars in the Brazil national team is endless. Their recent poor performances have been a huge setback and they have reached an new low with the 19th ranking.

However, things are beginning to change and with the World Cup fast approaching, Brazil can show how good they are. The fact that they are playing at home might give them a boost and morale support. They have the attacking power in Neymar and Pato, the strong midfield in Oscar, Lucas Moura, Kaka and Ronaldinho, the defending efficiency in Silva, David Luiz and Marcelo and a world-class goalkeeper in Diego Alves.

As you can see their squad is extremely strong and with extra practice, focus and concentration, they can prove - once again - that they are one of the best in the world.

The exciting Samba flair that they possess might just inspire them to Confederations Cup and World Cup triumphs.
