Luis Suarez made the headlines again for all the wrong reasons on Sunday, his Liverpool future has been put in doubt, but should Liverpool sell their talismanic striker?

With Suarez currently the second top scorer in the Premier League, it is hard to see Liverpool coping without him; but do they want a striker whose reputation gets the better of him? Only time will tell.

For all of Suarez's outstanding achievements this season, he has had his fair share of controversy too. Even before his arrival, Suarez, then Ajax captain was handed with a seven-match ban for biting Otman Bakkal in 2010.

That proved to be his last game for Ajax, with him subsequently being sold to Liverpool for £22.7million in January 2011.

This season, we have seen the good, bad and the ugly of Luis Suarez. Firstly, he has been phenomenal this season and is currently only second to Robin van Persie with 23 goals so far to his name.

Then we started to see the bad side of Suarez. During a match with Manchester United at Anfield on the 15th October 2012, Suarez was found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra; this led to an eight match ban and a £40,000 fine.

That appeared to be the only blemish in what appeared to be a magnificent season for Suarez; but that was not the case.

Suarez did make a positive impact in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea, by providing an assist to Daniel Sturridge to score against his former club, he also scored a dramatic leveller in the dying seconds to salvage a draw; but this is not what the game will be remembered for.

During the second half, Suarez sunk his teeth into the arm of Branislav Ivanovic, a sheer act of brutality. Although Suarez did not face any action during the game, he is likely to receive a lengthy ban and fine for his troubles.

With Brendan Rodgers claiming that every player can be replaced, many are wondering whether Suarez should be sold. Whether Liverpool would want to sell is a different matter, but Suarez has damaged the image and reputation of a top class football club.

However, the footballing authorities should be doing everything they can to keep such a good player in the Premier League. Eric Cantona, a man who aimed a kung-fu kick at a Crystal Palace fan, remained at Manchester United despite a huge protest, showing that you can remain in this illustrious league even if you have done wrong. Even the footballing authorities are doing all they can to help Suarez.

PFA chairman Gordon Taylor has announced the PFA will offer Suarez anger management counselling to ensure that incidents as brutal as this are never repeated again.

It is clear that the PFA want Suarez to stay in the Premier League, so should Liverpool sell him? It is clear that Suarez has immense quality, but whether he is worth all the hassle is a different matter, but for now, Suarez should remain a Liverpool player.
