Norwich City manager has warned his team that 38 points will not be enough to confirm safety in this season’s Premier League.

Norwich are currently sitting 13th in table, a seemingly comfortable position to be in, but this season the gap between 13th and 17th is only three points.

Chris Hughton knows that his team still have work to do, with The Canaries looking for three points when they travel to The Britannia stadium to play Stoke City on Saturday.

Norwich have been struggling for form of late, with Hughton's team winning only once in their last seven outings - 2-1 win coming in their last game against Reading last week.

Hughton will be grateful of a strong performance on Saturday to pull the club over the magical 40 points mark- the normal point of safety for Premier League teams.

Hughton however, is aware that the clubs currently sitting below his team are more than capable of pulling together results when needed.

Speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk Hughton said: "We know we're almost there because we have got 38 points. But I think it will take more, I really do, because Wigan are a good side. They're capable of winning games, as are all of the teams around us.

"I think we certainly need more points than what we've got now. We've got four games to do it.”

Norwich have been the Premier League's draw specialists this season, drawing 13 games in all. Another draw against fellow strugglers Wigan would go a long way to confirming their safety in the Premier League for another year.
