Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill have travelled with the Chelsea squad for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final showdown against Basel tomorrow.

The pair departed for Switzerland this morning as part of a 19-man squad to face Basel, who eliminated Chelsea's top-four rivals Tottenham at the quarter-final stage.

Cole picked up a hamstring strain against Manchester United at the start of the month while Cahill underwent minor surgery on his knee on March 30.

It was initially feared that both players faced extended spells on the sidelines, but both have recovered well and are in contention to feature on Thursday.

Oscar also made the trip with the squad despite picking up a hamstring injury during Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

The game against Basel marks the start of another run of fixtures in quick succession for the Blues - after the game at St. Jakob-Park they play three games in the space of a week.

Rafa Benitez's side face Swansea three days after their trip to Switzerland, before hosting Basel and then taking on Manchester United at Old Trafford.
