Manchester United goalkeeper to leave Old Trafford?
Manchester United opinion: Is it time for Anders Lindegaard to leave the Red Devils?
Manchester United's second-choice goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard could be on his way out of Old Trafford as West Ham and Fullham are reportedly interested in him, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Danish shot-stopper looked like he had a genuine chance of establishing himself as United's first choice earlier this season when David De Gea seemed doubtful. Sadly it was not meant to be as he suffered an injury and was forced out of action where De Gea stepped up to the plate and has been there ever since, producing top class displays on a weekly basis.
Lindegaard has not been able to make a first-team appearance ever since and has failed to establish himself at Old Trafford.
With United being linked to other alternative goalkeepers over the season, it could be possible that Lindegaard has failed to make an impression to Sir Alex Ferguson and may have to move on if he wants to see some first-team action.
Fullham will be looking to replace their long serving 40-year-old goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, while Jussi Jaaskelainen, despite recently signing a one-year contract extension, will need a long-term replacement to fill his gloves when he does leave the club.
Lindegaard may not be a top-class goalkeeper but he surely is good enough to play for the majority of Premier League clubs and perhaps it is time United allow him to leave to pursue his career away from the bench.
He has only made 16 appearances since signing for the club in 2010 and chances are this tally will not improve significantly if he chooses to remain.
