Arsenal and Tottenham have had reasonably good seasons, with both sides still in with a chance of snatching a Champions League spot.
However the sides from north London seem desperate to sign a striker or two as most of their goals have come from attacking midfielders and in some cases defenders.
Here we look at the top five players the two sides could go head-to-head for this summer:
Leandro Damiao - Internacional
Currently playing in the Brazilian league, Damiao has hinted he may move if the right club offers. He was top scorer in the 2012 Olympics for Brazil and looks set for a bright future. If he was to move to either Spurs or Arsenal he could bring in the crucial goals the sides need.
Loic Remy - QPR
After joining QPR this season and having a recent run of goalscoring form, it makes Remy a very possible target for both Spurs and Arsenal. As QPR are almost certainly relegated, Remy may be a bargain for any club wanting to secure him for next season. He has already proved he has the ability to score goals in the Premier League, but can he do it for one of the 'big boys'.
Robert Lewandowski - Borussia Dortmund
Playing in Germany for Champions League hopefuls Dortmund, Lewandowski has proved he is a world class striker. The Polish international may be out of reach for these two sides as many clubs in Europe also seem to be monitoring him.
Christian Benteke - Aston Villa
Since moving to Aston Villa, many believe Benteke is the sole reason that Aston Villa are not in the relegation zone.
The Belgian international has scored many great goals securing points that Villa desperately need to avoid the drop.
Villa boss Paul Lambert recently expressed his desire to hold on to the striker for next season as they look to strengthen their squad and increase their position next season. Again if the club were to be relegated, there is no way Benteke will drop down to the Championship.
Alexis Sanchez - Barcelona
The Barca winger has struggled to make much of an impact at the Nou camp, especially with Lionel Messi in fantastic form, however he still carries the qualities of a top class player and may be a potential target for Premier League clubs. If Spurs or Arsenal were to take a risk on him, then he could repay them with the form he showed before his move to the Catalan giants.
