Arsenal & Manchester United get serious competition for Germany starlet

Published 4 Comments

Borussia Dortmund have emerged as serious contenders with Manchester United and Arsenal for Germany starlet Julian Draxler.

Arsenal have sent scouts to watch the Schalke 04 attacking midfielder this season and Manchester United have mulled over a summer bid, according to talkSPORT.

However, Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson will have serious competition from Dortmund, who are due a large transfer fee and need to replace star man Mario Götze.

It also says Dortmund are ready to go big to land Draxler after it was confirmed this week that Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich had sealed the £32million signing of Götze.

Jürgen Klopp will be looking for a new playmaker and Draxler has shown immense promise at Schalke, so their interest is no surprise.

Draxler can play out wide or through the middle, has a good passing range and has a talent for taking on opposition defenders.

These attributes would make him ideal for the system Wenegr deploys at Arsenal and the interchange of their front three when Olivier Giroud isn’t playing.

However, Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make midfield changes this summer and Draxler would fit in well at Old Trafford.
