Barcelona are being linked with a shock summer move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
The Daily Express claims Tito Vilanova could hand the Uruguayan forward a lifeline at the Nou Camp, and end his controversial stint in the Premier League.
Suarez arrived at Anfield from Ajax in January 2011, and whilst the 26-year-old has been prolific in-front of goal for Liverpool, he’s also been in the headlines for the wrong reasons on more than one occasion.
The 63-cap international was banned for eight games after being found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra in 2012, and has now been hit with a ten-game ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic during the 2-2 draw with Chelsea last week.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was far from happy with the length of ban for his latest indiscretion, and believes the severity of the punishment could leave Suarez looking for a move away from the country.
"Each time he makes a step forward we find ways to beat him with a stick and beat him down. I can understand if he felt like that [wanting to quit England] in a moment of reflection,” he said, according to the paper.
Barca, meanwhile, were put to the sword against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night, losing 4-0 at the Allianz Arena.
And, AS claims the Blaugrana are keeping close tabs on the former Nacional star’s situation in England, and have set their sights on Suarez as a key transfer target at the end of the season.
Liverpool will want to keep hold of their top scorer, although the lure of Champions League football is also a factor that may have to be considered.
