Tottenham and Liverpool midfield target flattered by German giants interest
Tottenham and Liverpool transfer news: Christian Eriksen remains focused on Eredivisie charge
Christian Eriksen says he is flattered by speculation linking him with a move to Borussia Dortmund - but maintains he is focused on helping Ajax claim the Eredivisie title this season.
Eriksen has been in outstanding form in recent months and has helped drive Ajax on to their 32nd league title. They currently sit at the top of the table, four points clear of PSV Eindhoven.
The Danish international's future has been the subject of much speculation this season amidst reports he has opted against extending his current contract beyond its end-date in 2014.
Tottenham and Liverpool have been linked with making a move for the midfielder, but more recently Dortmund are said to be on his trail as a replacement for the out-going Mario Gotze, who will join Bayern Munich in the summer.
Eriksen says he is happy to be linked with a move to the Champions League semi-finalists, who took a giant leap towards the final with a sensational 4-1 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday, but says he won't think about his future until the season is over.
I've read that," the 21-year-old told AD when asked about reports linking him with a move to the Bundesliga.
"It's great that [the media] link me with such a good club. But right now I'm only focusing on one thing. I want to become a champion and after that we'll see.
"If nothing happens, I'll renew my contract. I owe Ajax so much. I don't want to leave for free."
News of Dortmund's interest will come as a blow to both Liverpool and Spurs, who are both expected to be busy in the summer market.
Having failed with a bid for Joao Moutinho last summer, Spurs are reportedly eyeing up Eriksen as an alternative, while Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to add quality to his squad in order to challenge for a top-four spot next season.
